John completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Community Development and Master’s Degree in Statistics both from the University of the Philippines-Diliman.

As a researcher, he worked for the Asia-Pacific Policy Center in partnership with the World Bank, United Nations Children’s fund (UNICEF), United Nations Development Programme, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and the Human Development Network and went around 25 provinces doing fieldwork. His main studies of interest are poverty, development programs, middle-class sector, and social network analysis.

In his heart of hearts, his advocacy is the use of math and statistics in shedding light on the social problems that we face.
