| Written by CSWCD

The 12th volume of the Philippine Journal of Social Development was formally launched last September 11, 2019, at the Audio-Visual Room of the College of Social Work and Community Development. Authors, reviewers, and members of the academic community witnessed the warm and joyous birthing of the PJSD’s latest addition which took a total of nine months to conceive— from the call for papers to the printing of the actual journal.

The PJSD Volume 12 centers on the theme “Re-imagining social development, re-claiming people’s development” and is a partnership of the Doctor of Social Development Program and the Research and Extension for Development Office. The publication of the PJSD Volume 12 is part of the 10th year celebration of the Doctor of Social Development Program. It features 10 articles that are divided into two sections. The first section examines current social development themes generated from completed DSD dissertations while the second section puts together complementary concepts to explore new ways of looking at development practice.

Issue editors Prof. Ma. Theresa V. Tungpalan, Ph.D., who is also the current director of the DSD Program, and Asst. Prof. Rowena A. Laguilles-Timog, DSD, along with managing editor Ms. Valerainne R. Lopez acknowledged the contribution of the authors and the reviewers. Each of the contributors was presented with a certificate and copies of the limited-edition print journal. Moreover, authors Redento B. Recio, Ph.D., and Virginia B. Dandan, DSD, gave a glimpse of what their respective articles contain and their journey towards coming up with such articles. Notably, Dr. Dandan pointed out, though not explicitly expressed, that the value of love echoes through the articles of this issue.
