forum on current development issues and strategies

A research forum entitled A Closer Look at Current Development Issues and Strategies was held last November 29, 2012 at the CSWCD AVR. Three studies on various social development issues conducted by CSWCD faculty and REPS were presented.

The first paper was a research undertaken by Dr. Leticia S. Tojos about the people’s perception of local governments’ capacity in disaster risk reduction and management. Results showed that preparedness, capacity building, governance, information dissemination and people involvement were key factors in Disaster Risk Reduction Management. The second study was done by Prof. Justin V. Nicolas which dealt with creativity in social work. The third research presented is an evaluative study on the functionality of Barangay Council for the Protection of Children (BCPC) focusing on four provinces. The study was conducted by Dr. Emmanuel M. Luna and Prof. Rosalie T. Quilicol.

The forum was coordinated by the Research and Extension for Development Office. Ms. Catharine Adaro served as a moderator for the event.
