Gender and Development Committee

Pursuant to memorandum no. CAS-12-009 from the Office of the U.P. Diliman Chancellor,  citing Section 36 of  Republic Act No. 9710, also known as the Magna Carta of Women and reiterated in the Memorandum Circular 2011-01, dated October 21, 2011 of the Philippine Commission on Women, all units and colleges should designate a gender focal point person or form a gender and development committee whose responsibility is to lead in the mainstreaming of gender perspective in the plans and programs of the corresponding unit or college. Specifically the responsibility includes the development of the Gender and Development (GAD) Plan together with the corresponding budget. 

All units of the College will be represented in the Gender and Development Committee.  In addition, two student representatives, one from the undergraduate and another one from the graduate levels, chosen by the Student Council, will be included in the membership of the said committee. The members of the Committee will elect the Chair, who shall represent the College in the formation of the GAD Focal Point system of U.P. Diliman.

Sikhay Kilos Development Association, Inc.

The Sikhay Kilos Development Association, Inc. is a partner organization of the faculty, staff and students of the CSWCD. It is a newly organized association established by the main constituencies of the CSWCD and hopes to harness the knowledge and skills of its constituency in the service of the people. 

As its name connotes, “Sikhay” means conscientious and principled initiative; while “Kilos” literally means action.    Sikhay Kilos aims to advance the welfare concerns of the poor, marginalized and/or vulnerable groups and communities in the Philippines. Further, it seeks to develop, initiate and implement programs and projects in social development; disseminate knowledge and establish partnerships and linkages in pursuing its goals. These goals are  in line with the vision of the College that focus on the promotion of justice, peace and sustainable well-being shared by the Filipino people and the global community.

UP Social Action and Research for Development Foundation, Inc.

The University of the Philippines Social Action and Research for Development Foundation, Inc. (UPSARDFI) is a non-political, non-stock, non-profit corporation established in 1981 to provide an institutional medium which assists the UP CSWCD to undertake, promote, and/or enhance research and action programs and projects on social development. 

As an affiliate organization of the UP CSWCD, the Foundation is committed to:

  • Support programs and projects in social work, community development and women;
  • Encourage and underwrite researches and studies in social development;
  • Establish scholarships and professorial chairs in social work, community development and related fields;
  • Conduct, sponsor or underwrite seminars, trainings programs, and conferences dedicated to the promotion, propagation, and enhancement of social development;
  • Publish and distribute, without profit, research outputs of projects and research programs supported or undertaken; and
  • Assist in strengthening the library, field placement and other facilities to improve the teaching and research capabilities of UP-CSWCD.
