The reasons for publishing a special issue of the Philippine Journal of Social Development, were not immediately evident when I was asked to serve as its editor. Dean Rosalinda Pineda-Ofreneo had to explain to me that “social protection” had become quite relevant, perhaps even urgent.
The University of the Philippines in its “Implementing Rules and Regulations of the Anti-Sexual Harassment Act of 1995” (APPENDIX) affirmed the following policy declaration of Republic Act No. 7877:
The College of Social Work and Community Development held its 46th Alumni Homecoming last August 31, 2013 at the college’s library from 1:00-6:00 PM. Batches ‘53, ‘63, ‘73, ‘88, and ‘98 were honored with a short but touching program. Among the jubilarians was Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary, Corazon “Dinky” Soliman who graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work in 1973.
